The Project & Community Benefits Coordinator will support initiatives as directed by the CEO with the ultimate objective of maintaining and increasing awareness and relationships with residents, stakeholders, board and committee members and elected officials. The role will be multifaceted and include elements of advocacy, marketing, operations, project coordination and board coordination. The position may also be asked to collaborate on special projects and assignments as needed. The position will be heavy in the coordination of multiple administrative functions and support for multiple departments projects. The community benefits responsibilities include monitoring legislation and activities at the federal, state and county government that could affect the programs and services of the UACDC. Using both internal and external communications, this position will interact with senior staff members, lobbyists, legislative committees, government officials, advocacy groups, UACDC board members, community residents and citizens to promote UACDC's objectives. This position may include analysis, research, data entry, and report generation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates understanding of the organization's mission and strategic plans.
  • Conducts research and works on special ad hoc projects as assigned (EX: Tampa Innovation District, Community Benefits Program, Community Residents Board, University Partners Coalition, etc.).
  • Plans and schedules Board meetings, including preparing audio visual presentation, handouts, room reservations & setup, and ordering meals; updates full Board & committee meetings calendar, contact lists, absence spreadsheet, status spreadsheet and bylaws; ensures all materials on Board web portal are current and up-to-date, submits changes to Board web page to marketing department.
  • Assists CEO in the creation of the Community Benefits Agreement/Program by engaging with Innovation Partnership staff, Hillsborough County staff and Community Residents.
  • Assists CEO in the development of University Area Community Residents board to oversee Community Benefits Agreement/Program
  • Manages the organization's Business Metrics Dashboard, coordinating with all departments/programs for data submission.
  • Coordinates UACDC Partners Coalition, including planning and implementation of quarterly gatherings, updating the membership directory, and submitting website updates to marketing department.
  • Establishes accessible and supportive relationships with UACDC personnel, Board members, Legislators, Community Partners and/or guests of the organization.
  • Maintains spreadsheet of government contact information and updated list of legislators in each county service area.
  • Assists with special events planning as necessary (EX: Board Retreat, Staff Retreat, In the Black Social, etc.).
  • Researches sources or other topics as directed, and continually compiles current University Area data in the shared U Drive for use by internal department & programs.
  • Participates in staff duties for internal & external programs and events.
  • Keeps distribution lists current/up-to-date.
  • Generates reports, handles multiple projects, and prepares and monitors invoices and expense reports as required.
  • Develops and prepares spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other documents as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in communications, business, marketing, English, public relations, political science; at least 4 years of professional level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities outlined.
  • General knowledge of state and Federal government organization and legislative processes, including budget and appropriations processes
  • Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Familiar with standard marketing and graphic design concepts, practices, and procedures within the marketing field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to professionally interact with multiple constituents including Board Members, elected officials, donors, University Area Community members and other staff.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Ability and willingness to accept direction and follow established Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to carry out duties while staying calm, courteous, and polite during stressful times.
  • Ability and willingness to show cultural competence in regards to nationality, race, sex, religion, and sexual preference of both community members and staff.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Prior experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.
